5. Migoti Hill Peaberry - Burundi

Migoti Coffee was established by Pontien Ntunzwenimana and Dan Brose, two engineers from Burundi who aimed to make a positive impact in the community where Pontien was born and raised.

Together, they have developed two well-established washing stations nestled among the mountains of Bujumbura Rural Province. These stations provide support to approximately 1,236 smallholder farmers in the area who bring their coffee cherries for processing by Migoti.

The farms partnered with Migoti Coffee are located in the highlands just east of Lake Tanganyika, on the western slopes of Burundi's tallest mountains, which form the continental divide. To work efficiently and effectively with the local coffee-growing community, Migoti has organized the farmers into distinct ‘hills’ or geographical groups that share similar climate and altitude.

Pontien Ntunzwenimana and Dan Brose are really appreciated by their community for initiating this adventure into the speciality coffee market.
